Frequently asked questions
What types of links can I add?
You can add any URL that starts with https://, http://, mailto:, or tel:. Web addresses are auto-prefixed with https:// if you type a bare domain. JavaScript: URIs are blocked for security.
Will the link be clickable in Adobe Reader and other PDF viewers?
Yes. Links are embedded as standard URI annotation objects in the PDF. They are fully clickable in Adobe Reader, Chrome PDF viewer, Preview on Mac, and all major PDF readers.
Can I add a link over existing PDF text?
Yes. Draw the link region over any existing text or image on the page. The underlying content is not modified — the link annotation floats on top.
Can I edit or change the URL after placing it?
Yes. Select the link with the Select tool to open it in the Properties panel, where you can update the URL and the optional label at any time before downloading.
Can I add a link to a scanned PDF?
Yes. Link regions work on any PDF page regardless of whether it contains selectable text. You can make any area of a scanned document clickable.
What is the optional label field for?
The label is metadata stored with the link annotation. Some PDF viewers and accessibility tools display it as a tooltip or accessible name when the user hovers over or focuses the link.
